This system, although using an O ring instead of a seal, seems to work well. (I smear a little petroleum jelly on the O ring to help with the installation.) Additionally the Moser bearing is internally sealed to prevent lube from passing through it. The factory axle flange where the bearing rides has to be clean and not buggered up. To compensate for the seal, the O ring is used in the bearing bore to seal the outside of the axle bearing against the axle flange. With the larger diameter axles the factory sized seal is of no use with this combination as the seal's ID is too small. My axle housing ends are the standard "small" ones found on a 8" or 9" Mustang with 10" drum brakes.

My Moser axles are a larger diameter that stock (also have 33 splines) for drag racing. Click to expand.Paul, I can clarify this somewhat for you.
